The Galley
About This Spot
Stepping into The Galley in Deltaville is like sliding into a familiar, well-loved spot where local stories drift easily through the cozy air. The pace here is unhurried, the atmosphere quietly inviting—a place where neighbors gather, families share long conversations, and newcomers are welcomed without fuss. It’s the kind of establishment where the rhythm of Daily Virginia life feels at home, wrapped in the simple comfort of authentic hospitality.
The Galley’s charm lies in its approachable, no-frills setting where fresh seafood and hearty American classics come together to create a menu that reflects both tradition and a touch of coastal flair. There’s a warm, honest quality to the food—each plate carrying a sense of care, from the satisfying pull of a perfectly seasoned sandwich to the generous portions that invite lingering at the table. Beneath the surface, hints of the Chesapeake Bay’s bounty can be found, quietly shaping a local experience that goes beyond just eating.
What makes The Galley stand out is not only the food but the small human moments that bring the place to life: a water bowl set out for a dog before guests even take their seats, the familiar nods shared between servers and regulars, and the gentle hum of conversations that ebb and flow with the tide of mealtime. It embodies the warmth of a town settled on the water’s edge, where simple pleasures—like a homemade bread pudding or a side of hush puppies—become little celebrations of place and time.
Whether seeking a casual lunch, a lively dinner with friends, or a welcoming spot to recharge during a visit to this coastal town, The Galley offers a sense of belonging that lingers. It’s not about flash or fanfare, but rather the genuine, grounded spirit of a local favorite that has quietly earned its place in the hearts of those who come calling time and again.

Delicious homemade food and dog friendly.. Before we even sat down they had a water bowl for our dog!!! That's awesome! Meatloaf and bread pudding was sooo good! Definitely coming back to try the rest of their menu items!

Lovely, down to Earth, simple but very good menu. My husband had the chili (very generous portions!) and said it was like the ones he grew up with. I had their lunch special Rachel sandwich with hush puppies, and it was delicious. We got tempted by the homemade bread pudding, but it was sweeter than we are used to. Overall, a very pleasant experience, lovely service and affordable. Thanks for having us!!!

Food was good. Seemed under staffed and service was slow. Might be one of the best options though in this tiny town. Parking lot was full of cars. Seems to be a place the locals go. Small quaint little place to dine. The crab/lobster soup was delicious. The Reuben was amazing too.

We visited Deltaville mid week in October and found that this was one of the few places open all week. We ate there twice for lunch. I had the fried flounder sandwich one day and fried rockfish sandwich the other. Both were very good, I liked the tenderness of the flounder a bit better. A couple of the other guys had the burger, and they said it was very good. The side winder fries are terrific. This is a no frills kind of local spot. They were short staffed, but the two waitress were super friendly and really hussled. Outdoor seating, a bar area, and a dining room for seating options.

We've always had great food here. Hush puppies are great but an appetizer portion is huge so you might want to get a side portion instead.

Love this place. I loved the waitresses who felt like aunties. The food was worthy of a Guy Fierri review. Home cooking at its best. Get the butter beans.
